Bury St Edmunds – jewel in the crown of Suffolk (photo series)

Sometimes you could forget how beautiful the place you live in could be. We had the pleasure to spend just over two years in this small, historic town in the county of Suffolk (England). Now that we no longer live there, I thought it is worth to share some of the loveliest shots we took of Bury St Edmunds during our time there.

The pictures below are from Abbey Gardens and the medieval streets around the gardens. The last two show the town historic museum and the smallest pub in UK – the Nutshell – which is worth visiting (but do not expect a wild range of choice.

If you do decide to visit make sure to check out:

  • Greene King Brewery – they do regular tours which you need to book at least a week in advance. The brewery is also the best place to see the town from above, being one of the tallest structures in Bury St Edmunds.
  • Guat’s Up! for a good quality brew or Muffin Break (where I used to spend most of my lunchbreaks).
  • Hardwick Heath or Holywater Meadow if you want to have a chilled weekend out in the nature without the crowds of Abbey Gardens.
